Superior Marine Technical Services, Inc. is looking for a dedicated and skilled Marine Electronics Service Technician to join our team in Houma, LA. The Role

As a Marine Electronics Service Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of various electronic systems on board vessels, including critical navigation and communication equipment. You will work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions and marine environments, frequently traveling to vessels at sea to provide immediate support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Service: Install, maintain, and repair complex marine electronics.
  • Diagnostics: Perform system diagnostic tests and fault isolation to resolve operational problems.
  • Inspections: Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to prevent equipment malfunctions.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all workplace safety rules, OSHA standards, and company guidelines.
  • Documentation: Prepare detailed service reports for all repair and installation activities.
  • Stewardship: Properly use and care for all company-furnished tools and equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required; a vocational certificate or two-year degree in Electronics or Marine Technology is preferred.
  • Licensing: A valid Driver’s License is required for travel to various vessels.
  • Certifications: You must have or be able to obtain the following FCC Licenses within six months of employment: General Radio License, Radar Endorsement, and GMDSS Endorsement.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Marine Electronics Technician or in a similar role working with radios, radar, and navigation systems.
  • Technical Skills: Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to stand, climb, and stoop for prolonged periods in tight marine environments and have the strength to lift 50 pounds.
  • Availability: Must be able to participate in a rotating on-call schedule on weekends to meet urgent business needs.
