The Production Shift Supervisor manages and coordinates to meet and facilitate safety, production, sustainability, and quality standards.  Provides leadership and management to the departments on individual shifts to achieve company’s core strategies.

Responsibilities: 

  • Adheres to and enforces mandatory safety requirements.  Conducts safety observations and/or audits.  Monitors and enforces all safety policies while looking for ways to improve.
  • Serves as technical resource for all assigned work areas.
  • Provides immediate support when a flow in the process is down.
  • Participates in meetings discussing issues such as:  quality, safety, performance, staffing, art, shipping and scheduling.
  • Works with direct reports when dealing with conflict or difficult situations; works to resolve issues and determines when Sales/Operations leadership need to get involved.
  • Works with Production Manager to implement and align departmental initiatives with plant operational goals; supports and drives reinforcement activities.
  • Brings forth ideas to expedite orders, resolve issues, cost absorption confirmations, etc.
  • Performs performance evaluation with each employee at least one time per year.
  • Communicates concerns and issues at shift changes with peers as needed.
  • Conducts job and item approvals as outlined in the Quality Management System (QMS) and works with customer as needed.
  • Coordinates technical training for team (specific job task training)
  • Provides immediate constructive feedback both positive and negative to peers and others.
  • Teaches and develops people individually and with respect to the business.
  • Resolves daily staffing issues when necessary.
  • Communicates with other departments and the other team leaders.
  • Cross-trains with other supervisors to be a resource during vacations and on weekends to all areas of the plant.
  • Educates and communicates the process of Plan vs. Actual on a daily basis to your teams during meetings.
  • Daily verifications of time and attendance using the Dayforce work system.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum two-year certificate from college or technical school in Management or related program preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of two years progressive experience in the role(s) you are supervising.  Previous degree or supervisory experience in a LEAN manufacturing environment preferred.  

The physical demands require standing, using hands to finger, feel and touch; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear.This position requires frequent walking. Occasionally employee is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
