Position Summary
The Quality Manager is responsible for leading all quality functions at Baker Manufacturing's Evansville facility, including foundry, machining, assembly, and related manufacturing operations. This role oversees quality systems, ISO 9001 certification, supplier quality processes, corrective actions, calibration programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with experience in manufacturing quality systems, casting and machining operations, and team development. This position works closely with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure products meet quality, reliability, and customer requirements while supporting efficient manufacturing processes.
Essential Responsibilities
Quality Systems & Compliance
  • Lead all quality activities for the Evansville facility.
  • Maintain ISO 9001 certification through internal audits and registrar audits.
  • Manage the PPAP process, including PSW, ISIR, PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and material certifications.
  • Communicate PPAP status and results to key stakeholders.
  • Champion and manage the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) program.
  • Lead investigations and corrective actions for internal and external quality issues.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
  • Perform GD&T reviews to support product evaluation and measurement strategy.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation, inspection forms, and reporting processes.
  • Utilize SPC and other quality tools to monitor and improve performance.
  • Facilitate problem-solving efforts using 5-Why, Fishbone, 8D, and similar methodologies.
  • Support new product introductions and ensure successful transfer to manufacturing.
Equipment & Calibration
  • Oversee the calibration program using GageTrak software.
  • Support quality equipment maintenance, replacement planning, and budgeting.
  • Utilize quality inspection technologies including CMMs, spectrometers, and other metrology equipment.
Leadership
  • Directly supervise Quality Department personnel.
  • Establish performance expectations and provide coaching, training, and development.
  • Ensure training records are maintained and submitted to Human Resources.
  • Manage staffing schedules and employee time-off requests to support operational needs.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Required:
  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • Three or more years of quality leadership experience.
Technical Skills
  • Experience in casting and machining manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards and quality systems.
  • Advanced understanding of GD&T and dimensional inspection methods.
  • Proficiency with SPC and statistical quality techniques.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with GageTrak, Zeiss Calypso, Mitutoyo MCOSMOS, or PolyWorks.
  • Knowledge of CMMs, X-Ray systems, and spectrometers.
  • Six Sigma training or certification.
