Quality Inspector A (Manufacturing)

Location: KYOCERA SGS Precision Tools - 150 Marc Drive, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223

Schedule: Monday-Friday | Third Shift 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM | Mandatory overtime as required

Pay Range: $23.76 - $29.72 per hour plus $1.00 per hour shift differential

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

KYOCERA SGS Precision Tools is looking for a dependable and quality-focused Quality Inspector to join our third-shift Quality Assurance team. In this role, you'll inspect precision cutting tools using advanced measuring and inspection equipment to ensure every product meets our exact quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Inspection: Perform visual, dimensional, and geometric inspections of precision cutting tools using calibrated measuring equipment to verify compliance with engineering drawings and product specifications.
  • Precision Measurement: Use micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, laser measuring equipment, tool analyzers, and other precision inspection equipment to ensure product accuracy.
  • Quality Documentation: Accurately complete inspection records, maintain documentation, and enter quality data into company computer systems.
  • Product Evaluation: Identify defects such as chips, cracks, voids, wheel marks, and other surface imperfections while determining product acceptability.
  • Equipment & Calibration: Assist with calibration, maintenance, and verification of inspection equipment to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality investigations, scrap reduction initiatives, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Team Support: Assist with training associates on inspection methods, defect identification, and quality standards while promoting a safe and collaborative work environment.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED (Required)
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Manufacturing or quality inspection experience preferred.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges, or similar tools).
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Basic computer skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Frequently perform detailed inspections using microscopes and magnification equipment.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Perform repetitive reaching, bending, standing, sitting, gripping, and hand movements throughout the workday.
  • Ability to identify very small defects using various levels of magnification.
  • Work in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment with moderate to loud noise levels.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
