Job description

Process Engineering Technician (Injection Molding)
Location: Buffalo Grove, IL
Pay: $28-37/hr
Shift:
  • 6:00 PM โ€“ 6:00 AM, 3/3/2 schedule
Position Overview
We are seeking a strong Injection Molding Process Engineering Technician with hands-on mold setup and processing experience. This is not a press-monitoring role, this position requires ownership of setups, startups, troubleshooting, and technical support to engineering and production teams.

Responsibilities
  • Perform mold setup and full tool changeovers
  • Execute startups and validate processing parameters
  • Troubleshoot injection molding presses, molds, and tooling
  • Identify and resolve tooling vs. process-related issues
  • Adjust barrel temperatures, pressures, shot size, and cycle parameters
  • Process various resins, including proper material drying and moisture control
  • Support engineering with test runs, yield analysis, and process improvements
  • Monitor production performance and provide technical guidance to operators
  • Document process data and support continuous improvement initiatives
Required Experience and Skills
  • 5+ years of injection molding experience preferred
  • Strong mold setup experience (critical requirement)
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of presses and molds
  • Ability to restart tools and independently resolve downtime issues
  • Understanding of barrel and screw function and polymer processing fundamentals
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and make sound technical decisions
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Scientific molding experience
  • RJG Master Molder certification or exposure
  • Experience supporting process engineering or development activities
  • Experience in cleanroom or regulated manufacturing environments
  • Background in medical, automotive, packaging, or similar molding environments
