Job description

Position Summary

Teal Drones, a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is looking to fill an immediate position as a full-time Manufacturing Process Engineer. Teal is a rapidly growing technology company focused on creating world-class system solutions serving a broad range of applications forth design and development of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS drones) for use in defense, public safety, and other government security organizations

The Manufacturing Process Engineer designs, optimizes, and implements manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness, while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

This role is responsible for the development of the manufacturing process and workflows.  This includes the setting up of manufacturing workflow, workstations and equipment within the company manufacturing environment.  They evaluate the manufacturing processes and implement improvements that may include fabrication methods, assembly tooling, and material movement.  They will be able to implement lean manufacturing tools to improve the manufacturing processes.  They continue to evaluate processes to verify that they comply with safety and quality standards.  They will develop standardized operating instructions and implement new procedures and testing to drive continual improvement.

The Manufacturing Process Engineer works closely with technical team leaders, production supervisors, and engineers to identify opportunities for process improvements and enhance product quality. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to production schedules, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, efficient, and professional work environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, designs, and implements manufacturing processes, workflows, and procedures to improve efficiency and reduce costs. This includes the design of production lines, including the layout of machines and workstations.
  • Analyzes existing processes to identify areas for improvement, implements changes to optimize performance, and ensures adherence to quality standards.
  • Research and implement ways to improve processes, such as making them more cost-effective and efficient.
  • Monitor equipment and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) and manufacturing (CAM) software to build models and design systems and products.
  • Identifies and resolves production issues, conducts root cause analysis, and implements corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Creates and maintains detailed process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials for operators
  • Drives for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, quality control, and maintenance, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Manages manufacturing process improvement projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, or Electronics) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications or similar workflow tools.
  • Positive attitude and keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with engineering teams and manufacturing operation personnel. 
  • Experience in CAD software (Solidworks) a plus. 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for operating equipment and performing assembly tasks.
  • Visual acuity for conducting quality inspections on small components.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and other industrial elements, while adhering to all safety protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and workplace safety regulations.
