Job description

Step into the heart of production

Picture your shift: you open with a focused huddle, align the crew on safety, quality, and output goals, and share critical updates from sister plants and support teams. You walk the floor, coach operators, remove roadblocks, and keep the line humming. When issues surface—whether a near miss, a quality concern, or a training gap—you lead the response, investigate, and close the loop with practical countermeasures.

What you will lead
  • Facilitate daily team meetings to communicate production targets, quality expectations, and key messages from other departments and facilities.
  • Coach and counsel team members on safety, performance, attendance, training, housekeeping/5S, and quality requirements to ensure full understanding and compliance.
  • Keep critical information flowing so every operator is clear on safety, quality, and production priorities.
  • Actively participate in accident and injury investigations (including near misses), drive corrective actions, and implement solutions such as engineering controls and employee education.
  • Conduct audits in safety, training, and quality; develop and implement countermeasures where gaps are found.
  • Support company compliance with TS16949 and other customer-mandated certifications.
  • Coordinate daily work assignments and staffing to meet output and quality goals.
  • Administer appropriate disciplinary actions when policy or procedure violations occur.
  • Assist with materials planning and logistics to keep lines supplied and running efficiently.
  • Review and validate production data submitted by each operator.
  • Process payroll and attendance information accurately and on time.
  • Assist in preventive maintenance activities to sustain equipment reliability.
What you bring
  • High School diploma or GED required; a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field is preferred (not required).
  • 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing/production experience.
  • Knowledge of glass manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Willing and able to work across all available shifts; regular, dependable attendance is essential.
  • Team-first mindset and the ability to collaborate to meet shared goals.
  • Valid driver’s license for business travel.
  • Flexibility to work beyond 40 hours per week as needed by workload or projects, including weekends and holidays.
Skills that set you up for success
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn, follow, and improve standard work while maintaining a safe manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on, data-driven problem solver with strong analytical skills.
  • Commitment to the Carlex values: Safety, Customer Focused, Teamwork, Excellence, and Trust.
