Job description

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily plant operations and drive efficiency, safety, and productivity across the facility. This leadership role is responsible for managing key operational departments, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and providing strategic leadership to department managers. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong manufacturing operations experience, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across multiple business functions.


Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management

  • Oversee all plant operations and operational departments at the floor level to ensure safe, efficient, and productive workflows.
  • Provide leadership and strategic guidance to direct reports, including:
  • Logistics Coordinator
  • Production Manager
  • Production Support Team
  • Shipping & Receiving Manager
  • Develop and maintain organizational structure, accountability, and performance standards throughout the facility.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping standards are maintained across the entire plant.

Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Promote and enforce a culture of safety throughout the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead safety and environmental training initiatives for plant personnel.
  • Monitor and address potential safety concerns and implement corrective actions as needed.

Production & Process Management

  • Learn and develop expertise in all facets of the facility's processing technology.
  • Oversee production performance, utilization metrics, and chopping reports to drive operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to maximize productivity and quality.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts related to equipment issues and coordinate repairs to minimize downtime.

Systems & Reporting

  • Utilize the Dynamics 365 ERP system to monitor operations, review performance data, and support decision-making.
  • Analyze operational reports and key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting across operational functions.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner with Administration, Commercial, Accounting, and IT teams to support overall business objectives.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between departments to ensure operational success.
  • Assist in developing strategies that align plant operations with company goals and growth initiatives.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, or plant management.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, logistics, shipping/receiving, and facility operations.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental compliance regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, develop managers, and drive operational improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Continuous improvement experience (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies).
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
  • Equipment troubleshooting and maintenance coordination experience.
