Job description

We're looking for a dependable Operations Manager to lead Porta Kleen's Special Operations Group (SOG), supporting emergency response efforts, disaster relief, and wildfire response across the United States. This role requires a hands-on leader who can rapidly mobilize personnel and equipment, manage field operations in dynamic environments, and ensure safe, efficient service during emergency and disaster response events.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Porta Kleen's Special Operations Group (SOG) during wildfire response, natural disasters, emergency incidents, and large-scale recovery operations.
  • Coordinate the rapid deployment of personnel, equipment, and resources to emergency response locations throughout the United States.
  • Provide hands-on field leadership while ensuring operations are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and customer expectations.
  • Oversee portable sanitation, water systems, and other critical support services that sustain emergency response operations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, company safety policies, and customer-specific standards.
  • Partner with logistics, dispatch, branch leadership, and operations teams to coordinate travel, staffing, equipment readiness, and deployment schedules.
  • Monitor field performance and adjust staffing, equipment, and operational priorities to meet changing incident needs.
  • Maintain direct communication with customers, contractors, utility partners, and incident command personnel throughout deployments.
  • Conduct field inspections, safety meetings, and operational briefings while promoting a strong culture of safety and accountability.
  • Oversee equipment readiness by coordinating inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and replacement needs.
  • Complete operational reports, deployment documentation, safety records, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop field personnel while fostering teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Remain available for emergency mobilizations, extended deployments, and after-hours response as operational needs arise.

 

What You'll Need

  • 1–5 years of supervisory or management experience leading field teams in emergency response, industrial services, construction, utility support, military operations, or related environments.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel extensively throughout the United States, often with little advance notice.
  • Ability to deploy for extended periods during emergency response operations, including weekends, holidays, overnight travel, and non-traditional work schedules.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, DOT compliance, and safe work practices in field operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead teams in high-pressure environments.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, work 8–12+ hour shifts, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb on and off equipment, work outdoors in varying weather conditions—including wildfire smoke, heat, cold, rain, and uneven terrain—and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
