Manufacturing Operations Manager

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Operations Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives are achieved. This role leads production teams, drives continuous improvement initiatives, manages capacity planning, and ensures operational excellence while maintaining compliance with applicable quality management systems and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and execution of operations strategies that support business objectives.
  • Lead manufacturing operations to achieve performance goals in safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.
  • Conduct regular production floor meetings to review performance metrics, address operational challenges, and reinforce best practices.
  • Direct production planning activities based on customer demand and delivery requirements.
  • Review daily production schedules and align resources to support operational priorities.
  • Collaborate with production leadership, planning, engineering, quality, and customer service teams to ensure effective execution of manufacturing plans.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and work orders and provide clear direction to production personnel.
  • Monitor operational performance and provide guidance to ensure production targets are achieved.
  • Recruit, train, develop, coach, and motivate manufacturing employees and supervisors.
  • Identify and implement cross-training opportunities to improve workforce flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput.
  • Manage capacity planning, equipment utilization, planned downtime, and maintenance coordination.
  • Analyze production, quality, maintenance, and operational data to identify trends and corrective actions.
  • Partner with engineering and quality teams to resolve nonconformities and support corrective actions.
  • Recommend and implement process, tooling, equipment, and workflow improvements.
  • Support new product introductions and technology implementation projects.
  • Maintain ownership of on-time delivery performance and related processes.
  • Ensure compliance with quality management system requirements and industry standards.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and operational excellence.
  • Work closely with Human Resources to address employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary matters.
  • Enforce company policies and safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.


Experience

  • 5–7 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Experience managing production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in continuous improvement, problem-solving methodologies, and operational performance management.
  • Experience working within ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, or similar quality management systems preferred.

  • Strong leadership and team development abilities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and capacity management.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and manufacturing software.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
