ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As a Manufacturing Supervisor for General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) Precision Structures & Optics (PSO) located in Cullman, AL, you’ll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for providing daily front-line supervision and support for a team of technicians which includes planning and scheduling work, adhering to schedules and budgets, reviewing work processes, providing updates to management and key stakeholders, and the completion of staff performance appraisals.  This includes maintaining quality control standards and implementing safety procedures. Manufacturing Supervisors manage materials, equipment, and personnel to optimize productivity and minimize waste.  At General Dynamics Mission Systems we manufacture Beryllium products for use in the most demanding applications, across the aerospace, defense, and nuclear industries.  Our products are used in high performance sensing systems for targeting and acquisition, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, and are hardened for the battlefield environment.

Representative Duties: 

  • Oversee daily machining operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards
  • Supervise and train machining team members, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment
  • Mentor and develop team members, enhancing their skills and career growth
  • Regularly assess performance of team members to established processes and procedures
  • Coordinate with the Engineering and Quality departments to resolve any production issues
  • Implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs
  • Continuously improve machining processes and reduce production lead times
  • Experience managing tight production schedules while maintaining high quality and safety standards
  • Stay updated with rapidly evolving machining technologies and techniques
  • Ability to balance the demands of production efficiency with the need for meticulous quality control
