This role is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing process from design release to shipment, including but not limited to mechanical assembly, and parts manufacturing (machining and fabrication) departments in the production of product handling machinery and related equipment.
This position is directly responsible for managing plant safety, facilities management, and manufacturing quality; as well as capacity planning, utilization, scheduling, and shop order management. The Manufacturing Manager will supervise and plan all manufacturing activities while balancing tactical and strategic business directives. They must also be ready to demonstrate their skill and experience in a manufacturing environment delivering continuous improvement and drive effective performance of employees. The primary goal of the Manufacturing Manager is to ensure that all manufacturing processes and related activities operate at the highest levels of Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost performance.
Reporting to the position will be the Assembly Supervisor, Production Supervisor for machining and fabrication departments, and the Quality Inspector(s).

Job Description:

  • Lead the entire Division in proper safety practices and in consistently enforcing these practices

  • Lead employees in the manufacturing organization to follow good manufacturing practice and build products which meet quality requirements of the industry and of customers.

    • Understand and manage mechanical and electrical machine-building processes, implementing consistency and repeatability

    • Review engineering recommended process changes to ensure process is appropriate with operating goals

  • Lead the manufacturing organization in implementing a culture of sustaining lean and continuous improvement practices.

    • Lead the manufacturing organization in lowering the cost of building machinery

    • Lead the manufacturing organization in lowering the lead time of building machinery

  • Lead the manufacturing organization to meet deadlines for machine build.

    • Manage workload and capacity through analysis and actions needed to satisfy schedule adherence

    • Develop and execute work definition, work scheduling, and task assignments.

    • Work collaboratively with fellow department managers to communicate and to solve joint problems in meeting deadlines.

  • Goals

    • Work with Controller and GM to develop both short and long term goals/objectives in support of overall business goals/objectives.

    • Develop and execute to operating and capital budgets including adherence to overtime, labor, and materials requirements.

  • Run regularly scheduled meetings and provides timely updates and information to key stakeholders.

  • Engage with the teams to provide hands on support for troubleshooting issues plaguing production performance and dispute resolution.

  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining quality standards for all products.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8-10 years' manufacturing/operations experience, with proven success in a related leadership position in an environment of custom capital goods

  • Proven track record of managerial expertise of departments of 20+ employees, involving manufacturing-based problem solving, personnel management, and employee morale development.

  • Proficient with MS Office and knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (Ultimate Software, Syteline preferred)

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written across all levels of an organization

  • Results-oriented, self-motivated, with the demonstrated ability to lead, coach and inspire others to the same behaviors.

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Analytical thinker and desirous for root-cause problem solving.

  • Works effectively and collaboratively and respectfully in a team environment, comfortable in cross-functional roles.

  • Must be willing to work extended hours when staff is working overtime and/or some weekends.

  • Reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.
