Manufacturing Engineer
Position Overview
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting advanced manufacturing operations and engineering activities for Department of Defense (DoD) programs. This role provides technical expertise in manufacturing planning, process development, engineering change implementation, and production optimization while ensuring compliance with military specifications, quality standards, and program requirements. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer collaborates with engineering, production, quality, and program management teams to develop and sustain efficient manufacturing solutions for complex defense systems and components.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support manufacturing and engineering operations within a DoD production environment.
  • Develop and implement advanced manufacturing plans, processes, and production methodologies.
  • Analyze and improve manufacturing workflows to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost performance.
  • Interpret and apply military specifications, standards, certifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Support raw material selection, procurement coordination, and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Lead and support engineering change processes, design modifications, and configuration management activities.
  • Utilize CAD/CAM systems to support manufacturing design integration, tooling development, and process optimization.
  • Develop manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production personnel.
  • Support production troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes meet safety, quality, and operational requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree (MA/MS) from an accredited college or university in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment supporting DoD programs.
  • Highly specialized knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles, military standards, and production processes.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM systems, manufacturing process development, and engineering change management.
  • Strong analytical, technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Substitutions
  • One academic year at an accredited college or university in a related post-secondary program may substitute for one year of experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) plus an additional 3 years of relevant experience may substitute for the master's degree requirement.
  • An additional 6 years of relevant experience without a BA/BS may also substitute for the degree requirement.
