Manufacturing Engineer II at TSI
The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving service and calibration processes for precision measurement instrumentation in a high-mix, low-volume environment. This role ensures service and calibration operations are safe, efficient, repeatable, and compliant through strong process design, documentation, tooling, and structured problem solving. The position provides technical ownership of calibration systems, equipment, and workflows to maintain measurement integrity and traceability. Working closely with Operations, Quality, and Engineering, the Manufacturing Engineer II leads process improvements, supports complex troubleshooting efforts, and drives standardization across service operations.
What Will You Do?
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve service manufacturing and calibration processes for precision measurement instruments in a high-mix, low-volume environment.
  • Own service and calibration documentation within the ERP system (SAP), including work instructions, routings, Bills of Material (BOMs), and associated drawings.
  • Provide technical ownership and oversight of calibration systems, equipment, fixtures, and workflows to ensure measurement integrity, traceability, and compliance.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex service and calibration issues, including repeat failures, yield loss, and process variation.
  • Drive implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) impacting service and calibration operations, ensuring effective execution and communication to stakeholders.
  • Lead or facilitate structured problem-solving activities (e.g., 8D, corrective actions) and ensure sustainable corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Analyze service, calibration, and quality data to identify trends, determine root causes, and drive process improvements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, 5S, and Kaizen activities, to improve service efficiency, quality, and turnaround time.
  • Train and mentor service technicians and junior engineers on service processes, calibration methods, and standard work.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Metrology to drive alignment and process improvements.
  • Support new product development (NPD) and product changes by developing service and calibration strategies, documentation, and tooling.
  • Perform other engineering support tasks as assigned.

What Do You Need?
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial), or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing, service, or engineering support role within a regulated or technical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, or improving manufacturing or service processes.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical systems, equipment, or processes using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Working knowledge of process documentation, standard work, and engineering change control (e.g., ECOs).
  • Ability to analyze data sets and independently identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Effective communication skills with experience coordinating across cross-functional teams.

Desired
  • Experience supporting or owning service, repair, test, or calibration operations for electromechanical or precision measurement products.
  • Working knowledge of calibration systems, measurement equipment, and metrology principles, including traceability and measurement uncertainty.
  • Experience working in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing or service environment.

Travel
This position is primarily based on-site. Occasional travel is required to support service, calibration, training, or cross-site collaboration activities. Travel is expected to be limited (approximately 1-2 trips per year) and may include domestic and international locations.
