Overview

Vorteq Coil Finishers, a leader in coil coating solutions, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to join our manufacturing plant team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading all maintenance activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production equipment and plant facilities. This position requires a strong electrical background, including experience with drive programming, PLC troubleshooting, and mechanical automation systems. The Maintenance Manager will collaborate with production, safety, and quality teams to uphold operational excellence and compliance with all regulatory standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Lead and manage a skilled maintenance team; provide ongoing training, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems: including drives, PLCs, instrumentation, pneumatics, hydraulics, and process controls.
  • Oversee installation, modification, and commissioning of coil coating line and secondary processing equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and develop continuous improvement programs to enhance equipment performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support plant projects, upgrades, and process improvements.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are available to reduce down-time.
  • Ensure housekeeping and safety standards are being met throughout the maintenance areas.
  • Provide 24/7 support and guidance during emergencies or critical production interruptions.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including motor controls, drives (VFDs), and PLC programming/troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley preferred).
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Proven leadership, analytical, and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and people skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Proficient in maintenance recordkeeping practices.

Education/Experience

Required

  • Associate's degree in a related technical field or equivalent firsthand experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.

Desired

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, electrical technology, or related field.
  • Experience in coil coating, metal finishing, or continuous process manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with drive programming, coating line controls, and oven curing systems.
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish)
