Job Description

The Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanic will repair and maintain industrial manufacturing machinery. This role ensures all machines function properly through preventive maintenance service and troubleshooting support. As well as participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide support to kaizen teams.

This role will interface closely with external vendors and internal departments, including health and safety, engineering, supply chain management, and production.

This role is full-time, on-site at our facility in Bend, Oregon. 

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Ensure self and coworkers comply with all safety rules and regulations (LOTO, fall protection, hot work, etc.)
  • Follow existing operating procedures to perform uptime and downtime inspections, lubrications, and preventive maintenance.
  • Dismantle and reassemble complex machines efficiently, precisely, and reliably.
  • Inspect machine parts using various measurement instruments.
  • Maintain inventories of equipment parts and supplies by checking stock and placing orders.
  • Provide training and development to operators and other maintenance personnel.
  • Verify that machinery is in a ready state before coordinating with manufacturing to resume production.

Troubleshooting and Repair:

  • Work with different levels across departments through face-to-face, telephone, email, and radio communications.
  • Find sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and/or testing electric circuits.
  • Troubleshoot and perform corrective work on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Identify and execute improvements on equipment, documentation, work systems, and processes.
  • Use equipment manuals, schematics, parts breakdowns, online information, and vendor communication to solve problems.
  • Escalate technical, procedural, and personnel-related issues to direct lead or supervisor.

Fabrication:

  • Safely set up, operate, and disassemble manual and machine tools.
  • Turn, mill, drill, shape, weld, and grind machine parts to specification.
  • Operate cutting, welding, and various other fabrication equipment to cut, form, and/or join materials.

Pay: $30-40/hr DOE 

Qualifications

A lot of enthusiasm, passion, and excitement for what we do at Suterra. The ability to interface with a number of cross-functional teams and represent the engineering function as needed.

As well as:

  • An associate degree in an industrial machinery-related field.
  • One to three years of experience in an industrial plant setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Good computer, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software desired, SolidWorks or Autodesk Fusion 360 preferred.
  • Must be open to work off shifts and a rotating 4x10 schedule.
