Your role at Baxter
As the Senior IT Specialist supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), you will play a key role in developing, configuring, and maintaining the applications that power Baxter's manufacturing operations. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams across our plants to deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions that enhance system performance, support operational excellence, and enable digital transformation across the network. This role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on development capability, and the ability to guide others while contributing directly to solution delivery.
You will join a collaborative and fast-moving environment where your technical leadership, problem-solving skills, and ability to translate business needs into scalable MES solutions will have a direct impact on manufacturing efficiency, compliance, and product quality. This is an opportunity to shape development standards, influence technology direction, and support critical systems used across Baxter's global operations.
This is a hybrid in-office position based out of Marion, North Carolina.
What you'll be doing
  • Design, develop, and maintain MES applications and supporting software systems to meet operational and compliance requirements.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality MES solutions on time and in alignment with project objectives.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce coding standards and best practices, including naming conventions, documentation, error handling, and version control.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior developers and team members.
  • Partner with project management to define project plans, timelines, and development milestones.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to development standards and solution quality.
  • Support manufacturing plants with technical expertise and issue resolution as needed.

What you'll bring
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of software development experience, including hands-on work with MES applications preferred.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, and Java, with strong SQL and database skills (IBM DB2 or Oracle) preferred.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining MES platforms; familiarity with POMS, POMSnet, Siemens Opcenter Execution Medical Device (Camstar), or Opcenter Pharma (XFP) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of agile and waterfall development methodologies and strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience working in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with cloud-based MES solutions, IoT technologies, or regulated environments (FDA, ISO, GMP).
  • Proficiency in English; Spanish or Portuguese language skills are a plus.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $112,000 -154,000. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible for discretionary bonuses .
