Job description

Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will lead CNC programming and fixture design activities to support precision machining operations. This role focuses on programming lathes and mills, designing efficient fixtures, optimizing manufacturing processes, and ensuring adherence to quality management procedures. The engineer will work closely with manufacturing teams to improve process efficiency, resolve equipment issues, and contribute to continuous improvement across the shop.

Responsibilities
  • Program CNC lathes and mills, including equipment such as Mazak and Okuma machines, to support production needs.
  • Perform CNC programming directly at the machine, with the opportunity to introduce and use CAD/CAM software of choice in the future.
  • Design and develop fixtures using NX, Creo, and AutoCAD to support efficient and accurate machining operations.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering and production teams to improve process efficiency, throughput, and overall performance.
  • Apply and follow established Quality Management Systems and procedures to ensure consistent product quality and compliance.
  • Conduct cost analysis to support process improvements and decision-making related to manufacturing operations.
  • Perform root cause analysis and apply strong problem-solving skills when a machine goes down or processes deviate from expected performance.
  • Utilize 3D design capabilities with CAD software to support fixture design, tooling improvements, and process optimization.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve machining methods, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment, including process standardization and documentation.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, machining, or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on CNC programming experience, with the ability to program lathes and mills directly at the machine.
  • Basic to advanced CNC programming knowledge, including setting up and modifying programs for production requirements.
  • Practical experience with machining operations and fixturing for precision components.
  • Proficiency in fixture design using CAD tools such as NX, Creo, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in diagnosing and resolving machine downtime and process issues.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis in a manufacturing or machining environment.
  • Ability to conduct cost analysis related to manufacturing processes and improvements.
  • 3D design experience using any modern CAD software.
  • Ability to follow and comply with Quality Management Systems and documented procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering or a related technical field is a plus.
  • Experience working with Mazak and Okuma CNC machines is highly beneficial.
  • Any experience with heat treat processes is a plus.
  • Any experience with welding processes is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and interest in implementing such tools for programming is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional manufacturing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives in a production environment.
Work Environment

This role is based in a hands-on manufacturing environment focused on CNC machining operations. Standard working hours are approximately 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility to start earlier or later as needed, provided the engineer does not leave earlier than 3:00 p.m. The engineer will spend significant time on the shop floor programming CNC machines directly at the equipment and working with Mazak and Okuma lathes and mills. The position involves regular use of engineering and design software, including NX, Creo, AutoCAD, and potentially CAD/CAM tools selected by the engineer. The environment emphasizes adherence to Quality Management Systems, collaboration with manufacturing engineering, and continuous improvement of processes and equipment performance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
