As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer,, you will spearhead the mechanical design and development of advanced aerospace components and systems, ensuring innovative, reliable, and high-performance solutions that meet stringent industry standards and customer expectations.
You will report directly to our Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a hybrid work schedule.
In this role, you will impact the advancement of aerospace technologies by leading design efforts, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and driving the successful integration of mechanical systems into cutting-edge aerospace products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the mechanical design and development of aerospace components and systems from concept through production
- Collaborate with systems engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure design feasibility, manufacturability, and compliance with aerospace standards
- Develop and review detailed mechanical drawings, specifications, and design documentation
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and failure mode analyses to ensure robust and reliable designs
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the mechanical design team
- Engage with customers and suppliers to align design requirements and resolve technical challenges
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- Extensive experience in mechanical design engineering within aerospace or related industries, focusing on complex component and system design
- Proficiency in FEA software such as ANSYS APDL or ANSYS Workbench
- Proficiency in 1D Beam based FEA technique
- Proficiency in Rotor Dynamics & Shafting Structural Analyses
- Ability to lead design reviews, conduct risk assessments, and mentor engineering teams effectively
- Proven leadership experience in managing mechanical design projects in aerospace environments

- Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools and aerospace certification processes
- Knowledge of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and design standards such as AS9100 and MIL-STD
- Experience with design for manufacturability, tolerance analysis, and mechanical testing methodologies
