Associate or Experienced Equipment & Tool Engineer

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an Equipment & Tooling Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to join the Propulsion South Carolina (PSC) team in North Charleston, SC.

The PSC Equipment & Tool Engineering team is an organization of highly skilled women and men responsible for designing, analyzing and modifying aerospace manufacturing equipment and tooling to support production of nacelle structures including the 737MAX inlet, 787 engine build up, and future nacelle production systems.

A successful candidate will have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics and other engineers, directly supporting the production system. In Production Engineering, we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate (Level 2) or Experienced (Level 3) Equipment & Tooling Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates program and project requirements, develops moderately complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System.

  • Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and rate estimates, identifies robotics, automation or technology recommendations and system integration for equipment and tooling.

  • Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.

  • Validates contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts reviews, prepares plans for productions readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares.

  • Conducts training for Production and Maintenance personnel.

  • Develops and implements work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation.

  • Supports studies for disposition of assets.

  • Ability to travel to partners and tooling suppliers.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

  • 2 or more years related work experience in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Tool Engineering.

  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • 2 or more years of experience using CAD/CAM software.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5 or more years of experience using CATIA and ENOVIA software.

  • Experience in fabrication tooling, working with tooling and tooling processes, or working in a tooling technical field.

  • 5 or more years Tool Engineering experience.

  • Experienced with tooling supplier base or out plant tooling.
