Job description

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Manufacturing Manager
Basic Job Function:
Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in an industrial plant. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods using knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs. Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements.
Corporate Responsibilities:
1. Taking an Active part in the Evolvement of Company Culture:
  • Encouraging interactions of company employees in company sponsored events.
  • Grasping leadership of potential barriers to promote teamwork.
  • Meet established company and departmental goals.

Departmental
Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.
  2. Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.
  3. Assists Manufacturing Manager in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training.
  4. Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
  5. Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results.
  6. Establishes and maintains production routings in accordance with established standards.
  7. Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  8. Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  9. Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
  10. Aid in determining rework processes for discrepant material if needed.

Secondary Responsibilities:
  1. Provide technical support to the maintenance department.
  2. Provide support to the Safety Team to improve safety within the facility.
  3. Attend trade shows, as needed/planned.

Authorities: Approves Maintenance Department weekly time and PTO request.

Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
5+ years of manufacturing and production experience.
