Job description

Job Title: Intern, Engineering Operations

Job Code: 43496

Job Location: Waco, TX

Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked, and have every other Friday off 

Job Description:

The Engineering Operations Intern will support business analytics and reporting activities for the Engineering department and MMG programs. Working alongside experienced engineers and operations staff, the intern will assist in gathering data, building reports, and contributing to department metrics and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on learning opportunity to gain exposure to engineering operations, data visualization, and business process improvement in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions:

Analytics & Reporting Support

  • Assist in collecting and organizing data to support department metrics and reporting
  • Support the development and maintenance of Power BI dashboards and reports
  • Help translate raw data into meaningful charts, summaries, and visualizations for internal stakeholders
  • Assist with tracking Engineering department metrics such as manpower, performance, and project status

Continuous Improvement Support

  • Support e3 Continuous Improvement projects by gathering data, documenting processes, and tracking action items
  • Assist in identifying inefficiencies in business processes and contribute ideas for improvement
  • Help document root cause and corrective action (RCCA) findings under the guidance of senior staff

Program & Project Support

  • Assist with Earned Value Management (EVM) data collection and reporting for Engineering programs
  • Support coordination of department activities such as training tracking, recruiting logistics, and policy documentation
  • Help prepare materials and status updates for leadership reviews and presentations

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Program Management, and Scheduling teams to gather information and support ongoing initiatives
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute observations and ideas
  • Assist in maintaining project tracking tools such as Atlassian Jira

Qualifications:

  • To be eligible, candidate's must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) required
  • Basic experience or coursework in data analysis or business analytics
  • Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar data visualization tools is a plus
