Are you a Psychiatrist looking for a highly predictable, part-time institutional role that easily integrates into your existing private practice, academic schedule, or personal routine? A prestigious, Level 1 Trauma academic medical center in New Brunswick, New Jersey, is seeking a qualified physician to support their adult Consultation-Liaison (C-L) Psychiatry service. This position features a stable, part-time weekday structure with zero on-call responsibilities.

The Opportunity

Step into a critical, hospital-wide consulting role, providing expert psychiatric evaluations for medical and surgical inpatients.

  • Clinical Scope: Exclusively manage adult consultation-liaison services. You will perform psychiatric evaluations, offer diagnostic clarity, and recommend acute treatment plans for medical inpatients experiencing co-occurring psychiatric symptoms, delirium, or behavioral crises.

  • Patient Volume: Maintain a balanced, high-quality clinical pace. Anticipated daily volumes per psychiatrist include approximately 4 new consults and 6 follow-up evaluations.

  • Collaborative Practice: Service coverage is comfortably divided between two active psychiatrists per day. Dedicated clerical support staff manages the intake, triage, and assignment of incoming consultation requests.

  • Predictable Schedule: Commit to 16 hours per week, structured as two 8-hour weekday shifts. To maintain continuity, you will cover the same two days each week. The current opening targets Mondays and Thursdays, though alternative weekday pairings can be considered.

  • Technology & Continuity: Utilize a single, integrated Epic EMR system covering the entire hospital ecosystem.

  • Degree & Focus: MD or DO required. This assignment is strictly limited to Psychiatrists; mid-level providers (PMHNPs/PAs) will not be considered.

  • Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Psychiatry. Complete Board Certification is not required, provided you are actively board-eligible.

  • Licensure: Must hold an active New Jersey State Medical License.
