Job Description:

Aalis Management Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Mandarin Legal Analyst to support a federal agency by conducting research and analysis using Mandarin-language materials, with a focus on trade, economic, industrial, investment, and related policies. This role supports trade enforcement activities and related negotiations across a wide range of sectors, product categories, geographic regions, countries, and corporate entities.

The subject matter and assignments may change multiple times throughout the day, requiring exceptional adaptability, analytical skills, and attention to detail.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth research using electronic and print resources, including Mandarin-language sources.
  • Review and analyze laws, regulations, policies, and other written materials related to trade, economic, industrial, and investment matters.
  • Summarize Mandarin-language sources in clear and concise English, both orally and in writing.
  • Translate Mandarin-language excerpts and full documents into English.
  • Draft memoranda, analytical reports, and briefing materials in English summarizing research findings and legal analysis.
  • Assist attorneys and investigators with gathering evidence for litigation, investigations, and enforcement actions.
  • Perform fact-checking and citation verification to ensure accuracy and completeness of deliverables.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously and adapt quickly to shifting priorities and deadlines.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

The Mandarin Legal Analyst must possess the following qualifications and demonstrated experience:

  • Advanced proficiency in reading and comprehending written Mandarin.
  • Extensive experience conducting research using Mandarin-language sources.
  • Strong knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and other written materials related to trade, economic, industrial, and investment issues.
  • Ability to identify, organize, and analyze relevant information from Mandarin-language materials.
  • Excellent English writing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality analytical reports requiring minimal editing.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint to develop professional deliverables.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, International Relations, Economics, Political Science, Asian Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting federal agencies, legal teams, or international trade matters.
  • Familiarity with trade enforcement, litigation support, and policy analysis.
