Job description

VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Architect
We are seeking a Senior VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Architect with deep expertise in NSX T, vSAN Lifecycle Manager (vLCM), VLR (VMware Live Recovery) ,vRealize Operations (vROps) and basic support on VMC AWS services to support mission critical banking infrastructure. This role will architect and operate secure, compliant, and highly available SDDC platforms that power core banking applications, payment systems, and regulated workloads. The ideal candidate brings strong technical leadership, deep SDDC experience, and a proven track record in financial sector environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the architecture, deployment, and lifecycle governance of VCF based SDDC platforms supporting core banking, digital channels, and high transaction workloads.
• Design and implement NSX T network virtualization with a focus on micro segmentation, zero trust security, and regulatory compliance (PCI DSS, FFIEC, SOX).
• Oversee vLCM strategies for patching, firmware compliance, and risk controlled upgrades across production clusters.
• Design, implement, and manage VMware Live Recovery (SRM/DRaaS) solutions for automated disaster recovery, including replication, failover, and failback processes.
• Ensure DR readiness through testing, runbook creation, and monitoring RPO/RTO compliance for critical applications and infrastructure
• Deploy and manage workloads on VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC), including SDDC setup, NSX networking, and hybrid cloud integration with on-prem environments.
• Build and optimize vROps dashboards for capacity forecasting, SLA monitoring, anomaly detection, and operational risk reporting.
• Ensure SDDC designs meet banking requirements for resiliency, disaster recovery, multi site HA, and business continuity.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to enforce segmentation, encryption, and threat mitigation policies.
• Drive automation initiatives using PowerCLI, Python, Ansible, or Terraform to reduce manual operations and improve auditability.
• Serve as the senior escalation point for complex issues impacting regulated or high value workloads.
• Participate in architecture review boards, risk assessments, and change control processes.
• Produce detailed documentation, runbooks, and compliance aligned operational procedures.
• Mentor engineering teams and guide best practices for secure and compliant SDDC operations.
Required Skills & Experience
• 10+ years of experience with VMware virtualization technologies in enterprise or financial sector environments.
• Proven expertise designing and operating VCF at scale, including multi site and stretched cluster architectures.
• Deep hands on experience with NSX T (DFW, micro segmentation, routing, load balancing, federation).
• Strong experience with v LCM for lifecycle, firmware, and compliance management.
• Advanced proficiency with vROps for analytics, capacity planning, and SLA reporting.
• Strong understanding of vSphere, vSAN, ESXi, vCenter, SDDC Manager, and enterprise storage/networking.
• Experience supporting regulated workloads and working within frameworks such as:
o PCI DSS
o FFIEC
o SOX
o NIST
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills across compute, network, and storage.
• Ability to lead cross functional teams and influence architectural decisions in a regulated environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• VMware certifications such as VCAP DCV, VCAP NV, VCIX, VLR, VCF Specialist, or VCDX.
• Experience with disaster recovery solutions (SRM, multi site NSX T, stretched clusters).
• Familiarity with core banking systems, payment platforms, or high transaction workloads.
• Experience with VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Solution, or hybrid cloud architectures.
• Background in risk management, audit readiness, or security governance.
Salary Range- $95,000-$120,000 a year
