About the Team:
The Grocery Outlet Store Support team is here to enable our Independent Operators and Aspiring Operators in Training (AOTs) to be successful Operators. We do this by providing world-class Project Management, Training, Communication, and Support services so our Independent Operators can focus on what matters: their families, business, customers, and communities. We build strong relationships with our Operators by being transparent and collaborative in all that we do and by looking for ways to improve the operator experience continuously.
About the Role:
The Store Transition Coordinator plays a critical role in executing both new and existing store changeovers, working closely with the Store Transition Manager and cross-functional teams. As part of the Store Transitions team, the Store Transition Coordinator must exercise sound decision-making skills to manage multiple priorities, ensuring seamless transitions for Independent Operators (IOs). This role requires frequent collaboration with departments such as Operations, Legal, Construction, Strategy, Safety, Training, Business Operations, and IT. Additionally, the role involves assisting Independent Operators with business setup and licensing requirements to legally operate a Grocery Outlet store. This role reports to the Manager - Transition Project.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Lead and manage multiple store transition projects through the Clarizen app, proactively resolving challenges and maintaining project timelines.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal business partners to ensure the timely execution of store transition tasks.
  • Lead and conduct kick-off calls with Independent Operators and key business partners to align on transition expectations and responsibilities.
  • Act as a strategic resource for Independent Operators, providing guidance on internal and external business resources.
  • Assist Independent Operators in obtaining the necessary business setup and licensing requirements to legally operate a Grocery Outlet store.
  • Actively research judicial business setup and licensing requirements to ensure compliance and provide up-to-date guidance to Independent Operators.
  • Oversee and facilitate the IO asset transaction process in partnership with the Directors of Sales & Merchandising, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain consistent and proactive communication with Grocery Outlet business partners regarding incoming and outgoing Independent Operators.
  • Facilitate and lead weekly conference calls with all transitioning Independent Operators, addressing concerns and making real-time decisions to support a smooth transition process.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in store transitions.
  • Manage the financial and contractual relationship between Grocery Outlet, Inc. and Independent Operators throughout the store transition process.
  • Host initial finance calls to outline administrative steps and financial requirements during ownership transitions.
  • Prepare and process required documentation, including asset valuation, financial agreements, and administrative records to ensure compliance.
  • Facilitate bank account setups and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to minimize disruptions.
  • Assist Independent Operators with fulfilling licensing and registration requirements necessary to operate legally.
  • Provide strategic support to Directors of Sales & Merchandising, ensuring that incoming and outgoing Independent Operators experience a seamless transition.
  • Communicate effectively with field and accounting teams to meet deadlines and address transition challenges promptly.
  • Analyze processes and develop efficiencies to streamline store transitions and improve overall operational effectiveness.

About The Pay:
  • Base hourly range: $26.50 - $28.50

About You:
  • A. or B.S. Degree
  • 0-3 years of accounting or finance experience and/or relevant experience in the grocery or retail field
  • Strong strategic decision-making skills with the ability to assess situations quickly and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and process optimization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and with Independent Operators.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience with project management systems such as Clarizen is a plus.
  • Knowledge of financial, contractual, and business setup processes related to store transitions is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, coordinate cross-functional efforts, and drive process improvements.
