Position Overview
The Manager, Supply Chain Technology & Operations is a formal people manager responsible for leading the delivery, stability, and continuous improvement of enterprise applications supporting manufacturing and supply chain operations. The role provides direct supervision to a team of IT professionals and is accountable for staffing, work allocation, performance management, employee development, engagement, and achievement of team objectives.
Success in this position is primarily achieved through setting direction, deploying resources, managing others, and holding employees and delivery partners accountable for results. The manager owns ERP-centric systems and their integration with logistics, warehousing, transportation, and plant operations, ensuring reliable performance in a 24x7 production environment.
The ideal candidate brings automotive industry experience, deep ERP and EDI expertise, and demonstrated success as a formal supervisor. The candidate must be able to establish priorities, delegate effectively, coach employees, address performance issues, develop talent, manage organizational change, and maintain accountability across strategy, execution, and real-time operational support.
Responsibilities
Formal Supervision & People Management
  • Provide direct supervision for a team of IT professionals, with formal accountability for employee performance, development, engagement, conduct, and results.
  • Establish team objectives, roles, operating standards, priorities, and work plans aligned with business and IT goals. Assign and delegate work based on business priorities, employee capabilities, capacity, and development needs; monitor execution and remove barriers.
  • Set annual performance objectives, conduct regular one-on-one meetings and formal performance reviews, document feedback, and maintain clear accountability for outcomes.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop employees through actionable feedback, individual development plans, succession planning, cross-training, and stretch assignments.
  • Address performance or conduct concerns promptly and consistently in partnership with Human Resources and in accordance with company policy.
  • Lead workforce planning activities, including organizational design, staffing levels, role definition, skills-gap analysis, recruiting, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and retention.
  • Recommend and administer employee recognition, pay, promotion, and development actions within company guidelines.
  • Build team capability and continuity by identifying critical roles, reducing key-person dependencies, and maintaining succession and knowledge-transfer plans.
  • Foster a respectful, accountable, collaborative, and inclusive work environment that encourages continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Manage employee workload and on-call responsibilities to support sustainable coverage for a 24x7 production environment.
  • Communicate organizational priorities and decisions clearly, manage change effectively, and ensure employees understand expectations, responsibilities, and measures of success.
  • Make timely staffing and resource decisions, resolve conflicts, and escalate material organizational or employee risks when appropriate.
  • Hold employees and external delivery partners accountable for commitments, quality, schedules, budgets, service levels, and compliance requirements.

Application & Operational Leadership
  • Lead Supply Chain IT application delivery and operations through effective delegation, resource deployment, management controls, and clear accountability for system reliability, service quality, and business outcomes.
  • Develop and implement IT strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives and drive technological advancements.
  • Oversee the management and optimization of IT infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency and support business growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address system requirements, ensuring the successful deployment of ERP solutions.
  • Manage and mentor a team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, maintaining the security and integrity of IT systems.
  • Drive innovation by staying updated with the latest technology trends and incorporating best practices into the IT strategy.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of IT systems, making data-driven decisions to improve functionality and user experience.
  • Ensure system availability, performance, and SLA compliance for mission-critical systems
  • Provide leadership during major incidents, including coordination, communication, and post-incident root cause analysis

ERP & Platform Ownership
  • Lead the ERP modernization initiatives to support enterprise transformation, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and processes.
  • Own ERP application delivery and support, including configuration, enhancements, integrations, and lifecycle management
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate supply chain requirements into scalable, reliable IT solutions
  • Ensure solutions are production-ready with appropriate documentation, monitoring, and support processes
  • Delivery, Roadmap & Governance
  • Define and execute application roadmaps aligned to business priorities and enterprise strategy
  • Oversee demand intake, prioritization, and capacity planning to ensure predictable delivery
  • Apply Agile and ITIL practices to balance change delivery with operational stability
  • Translate business priorities into team objectives, individual assignments, delivery commitments, and measurable performance expectations.
  • Establish operating rhythms for staff meetings, one-on-one reviews, capacity planning, risk escalation, and performance monitoring.
  • Balance employee, contractor, and vendor capacity to meet operational support and roadmap commitments while controlling cost and organizational risk.

Vendor, Financial & Compliance Management
  • Manage system integrators and software vendors as outcome-based delivery partners
  • Own application budgets, forecasts, and vendor cost controls
  • Ensure audit readiness, security controls, and compliance with internal and external requirements
  • Metrics & Continuous Improvement
  • Define, track, and report KPIs related to system availability, batch performance, delivery predictability, and business value
  • Use operational data and trends to drive continuous improvement and executive-level decision making

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 6 years of information systems/information technology experience
  • At least 3 years of lead experience

  • Master's degree and at least 5 years of information systems/information technology experience
  • At least 3 years of lead experience

OR
  • At least 10 years of information systems/information technology experience
  • At least 3 years of lead experience

Desired Skills
These qualifications are required and should be used for candidate screening:
  • Automotive industry experience is required, supporting manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, or plant operations
  • Enterprise ERP experience is required, including hands-on leadership with one or more of the following platforms:
  • Infor LN (LN and/or Baan)
  • SAP (ECC and/or S/4HANA)
  • Oracle ERP (E-Business Suite and/or Fusion)
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of Information Technology or Information Systems experience
  • 4+ years of formal people-management experience with direct accountability for hiring, work assignment, performance objectives, performance reviews, coaching, employee development, compensation recommendations, and corrective performance actions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical or application professionals through organizational change, competing priorities, and mission-critical operations.
  • Proven ability to delegate work, manage capacity, establish accountability, resolve conflict, and develop successors for critical roles.
  • Experience partnering with Human Resources on recruiting, employee development, performance management, engagement, and policy application.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical systems in a 24x7 operational or manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting multi-plant or global manufacturing operations
  • Exposure to WMS, TMS, Yard Management, MES, or system integration platforms
  • Experience working with large system integrators and offshore delivery models
  • Familiarity with Agile, DevSecOps, and modern release and deployment practices
  • Master's degree in a related field
