About Us

Puyana Plastic Surgery is a premier aesthetic plastic surgery practice seeking an experienced Surgical Assistant to join our growing surgical team.

We are looking for a highly skilled professional with extensive plastic surgery experience who can provide exceptional intraoperative support while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, efficiency, and professionalism.

This position requires a strong understanding of aesthetic plastic surgery procedures, surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, and operating room workflow.

Position Summary

The Surgical Assistant works directly alongside the surgeon during aesthetic and reconstructive procedures, helping ensure safe, efficient, and successful surgical outcomes.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and experienced in a wide variety of plastic surgery procedures.

Responsibilities

Surgical Assistance

  • Assist the surgeon during aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery procedures.
  • Anticipate the surgeon's needs throughout the procedure.
  • Handle surgical instruments, sutures, and equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Assist with tissue retraction, exposure, suctioning, hemostasis, dressing application, and wound closure as permitted by training and regulations.
  • Maintain sterile technique at all times.
  • Participate in patient positioning, preparation, and surgical setup.
  • Assist with turnover and preparation between cases.

Operating Room Support

  • Ensure surgical instruments, implants, and supplies are available and properly organized.
  • Assist with maintaining operating room efficiency and workflow.
  • Follow all infection control, safety, and accreditation standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the surgeon, anesthesia providers, nurses, and operating room staff.
  • Participate in inventory management and supply monitoring as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Surgical Assistant in Plastic Surgery.
  • Extensive experience assisting cosmetic and aesthetic surgical procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique and operating room protocols.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.

Preferred

  • Experience in office-based surgical centers.
  • Experience with breast surgery, body contouring, liposuction, facial aesthetic surgery, and reconstructive procedures.
  • Current surgical assisting certification where applicable.

Trial Period Requirement

To ensure a successful long-term fit for both the candidate and our practice, all applicants must be willing to complete a paid per diem trial period before being considered for a permanent position.

This trial period allows both parties to evaluate clinical skills, operating room workflow, professionalism, communication style, and overall team compatibility.
