This is a key leadership role responsible for keeping their business operations running smoothly while supporting their employees and management team. Position Summary

The Accounting & HR Manager is responsible for managing all day-to-day accounting operations, payroll, human resources, employee benefits administration, and general office management. This position reports directly to company ownership and plays an integral role in the financial health and daily operations of the business.


Responsibilities

Accounting & Finance

  • Manage all aspects of the company's accounting functions
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Manage cash flow and monitor company finances
  • Prepare journal entries and month-end/year-end closing activities
  • Coordinate with external CPA for tax preparation and annual audits
  • Maintain fixed asset records
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies

Payroll

  • Process weekly/biweekly payroll accurately and on time
  • Maintain payroll records and employee deductions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Process payroll tax filings and related reporting

Human Resources & Benefits

  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding
  • Maintain employee personnel files and HR records
  • Administer employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave programs
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR policies
  • Handle workers' compensation claims and unemployment claims
  • Support employee relations and performance management initiatives

Office Management

  • Oversee daily office operations and administrative functions
  • Manage office supplies, vendors, and service providers
  • Maintain company insurance policies and business licenses
  • Assist ownership with reporting, special projects, and operational improvements
  • Develop and maintain office procedures and internal controls


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
  • Previous HR and benefits administration experience
  • Payroll processing experience required
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP systems)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
