POSITION SUMMARY :

Sugarbush Resort is seeking a Schoolhouse Supervisor to help lead one of our most popular and rewarding programs. Our Micro, Mini, and Sugar Bear programs introduce children ages 3 to 12 to the joys of skiing and snowboarding through full-day and half-day lessons offered daily throughout the winter season. As a Schoolhouse Supervisor, you will play a key role in creating a safe, fun, and engaging experience for our youngest guests while providing support and leadership to instructors and staff. We're looking for an energetic, organized professional who is passionate about working with children and helping grow participation in snow sports. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong communication and guest service skills, and can think quickly and confidently when challenges arise. This seasonal salaried position runs from November 14, 2026, through April 11, 2027. Compensation ranges from $800 to $1,080 per week, plus benefits. Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and certification level.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Scheduling both instructors and support staff.
  • Entering of accurate pay roll daily
  • Overseeing the Schoolhouse building, including checking for proper maintenance and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Supervision of the guest check-in process.
  • Supervision of the set up and break down of our private learning area.
  • Creation of proper level lesson groups.
  • Proper instructor assignments for different age and level lessons.
  • On hill mentoring and check ins during lesson operation times.
  • Supervision of the Schoolhouse rental room.
  • Attending weekly supervisor meetings.
  • Administration of daily morning safety meetings.
  • Interdepartmental communication with food and beverage, lift operations, ski patrol, and facilities.
  • Daily communication with Ski & Director, Manager and other supervisors.
  • Communication and conflict resolution with guest's parents/guardians.
  • Filling out of proper paperwork and record keeping.
  • Support, mentoring and training of Schoolhouse instructors and team leads.
  • Implementation of school specific and resort wide safety protocols.
  • Uphold the highest levels of safety on varied terrain in a mountain environment, with unpredictable winter weather conditions in a fast paced, potentially high-pressure environment.
  • Arrive to work on time prepared for all duties.
  • Supervise and assist the children in your class at all times including during lunch and snack times.
  • Clearly and accurately instruct assigned levels, physically and verbally, per the progressions in our Instructor Guide.
  • Provide a safe and fun learning environment through exceptional class handling and creativity.
  • Assist lift attendants to properly load and unload children on the chairlift, lifting children by the vest (if applicable) in accordance with our Kids on Lifts policy.
  • Communicate child’s lesson content and progress of the lesson with the identified guardian.
  • Ensure the return of children to their identified guardians.
  • Uphold Company guidelines and the Vermont Skier Safety Act rules and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be intermediate skier/snowboarder, parallel or linking turns on groomed blue terrain.
  • Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring and/or previous ski or snowboard instructor experience.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Knowledge of Spanish language is a plus.
  • Computer skills, with knowledge of Excel, RTP, and Flaik preferred.
  • PSIA/AASI Level I, Level II or Level III Certification is preferred.
  • PSIA/AASI Children's Specialist Accreditation preferred.
  • USSA Certifications preferred.
  • Prior ski racing, freestyle background is a plus.
  • Considerations give to uncertified candidates with good skiing/riding skills, good communications skills, and enthusiasm for the sport with a passion for passing that on to others.
  • Available to work holidays and weekends - calendar and scheduling requirements for new & returning staff.
  • Successfully complete mandatory on snow training.
  • Must be able to stand and walk on snow for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, squat and lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have good guest service skills and work well in a team.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather in a mountain environment.
