Job description

This Isn't Your Typical Car Sales Job

At Wagner Subaru, we believe buying a vehicle should be enjoyable, transparent, and pressure-free. As the 5th oldest Subaru retailer in the United States, we've built our reputation on exceptional customer experiences, long-term relationships, and a team culture that's different from the traditional dealership environment. We have remained family owned and operated since opening our doors in 1958, and take pride in our culture built on honesty, empathy, appreciation, respect, and trust.

Don't just take our word for it. Check out our Google reviews and our YouTube Channel  and see why customers continue to choose Wagner Subaru.

We're looking for energetic, people-focused individuals who enjoy creating authentic relationships and helping others make informed decisions. As a Product Specialist, you'll serve as a trusted guide throughout the vehicle purchase process, educating customers on Subaru products, technology, safety features, and ownership benefits.

No automotive sales experience is required. In fact, many of our most successful team members came from retail leadership, hospitality, customer service, education, healthcare, and other relationship-driven industries.

What You'll Do

As a New Vehicle Product Specialist, you will:

  • Build relationships with customers and provide a welcoming, customer-first experience.
  • Guide customers through the vehicle purchase process from initial inquiry to delivery.
  • Educate customers on Subaru vehicles, technology, safety systems, and ownership benefits.
  • Communicate with customers through phone, email, text, video, and in-person interactions.
  • Conduct vehicle demonstrations and test drives.
  • Execute dealership pricing and sales strategies with professionalism and transparency.
  • Assist customers with vehicle trade evaluations.
  • Present available protection plans, accessories, and aftermarket products.
  • Set, confirm, and maintain customer appointments.
  • Maintain accurate customer records and follow-up activities in dealership software systems.
  • Participate in dealership events, community outreach, and manufacturer programs.
  • Complete all required Subaru training and certification programs.
  • Attend team meetings, training sessions, and manufacturer events.

What Success Looks Like

Product Specialists are evaluated on:

  • Customer satisfaction and experience metrics
  • Vehicle sales volume and performance goals
  • Lead response and conversion rates
  • Process consistency and compliance
  • Product knowledge and certification completion
  • Teamwork and contribution to dealership culture

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • Outgoing, friendly, curious, and relationship-oriented
  • Motivated to learn and continuously improve
  • Organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable using technology and learning new systems
  • A strong communicator, both written and verbal
  • Professional, accountable, and dependable
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Has strong time-management skills
  • Interested in automobiles, technology, and helping people

Many Subaru owners value adventure, community, wellness, and environmental responsibility. Candidates who naturally align with these values often thrive in our organization.

Qualifications

Required

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer proficiency

  • Ability to work with a diverse customer base

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience in a customer-facing environment
  • Demonstrated success in achieving goals and performance standards

Schedule

Full-Time Position

  • Minimum 40 hours per week
  • Monday through Saturday (shortened weekend hours)
  • Rotating evenings
  • Rotating holidays (shortened holiday hours)
  • Two days off per week

Compensation

We offer a competitive compensation plan designed to reward performance and customer satisfaction.

Compensation includes:

  • Guaranteed base salary
  • Performance-based commissions
