Senior SQL & Business Intelligence Developer

We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Senior SQL & Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to join our dynamic data operations team. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in transforming complex data into actionable intelligence that drives strategic decision-making. This role requires an independent, proactive professional who excels in data analysis, advanced database querying, and the design of sophisticated reporting solutions. Operating with minimal supervision, you will take ownership of the data lifecycle from extraction and performance tuning to the final visual presentation in SSRS and Power BI.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Database Management & Optimization: Write, test, and maintain highly complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions. Continuously monitor and perform advanced tuning of SQL databases to ensure optimal performance and rapid data retrieval.
  • Business Intelligence Development: Architect, design, and deploy comprehensive, interactive dashboards and paginated reports utilizing Microsoft Power BI and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Data Analysis & Problem Solving: Analyze intricate datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement. Apply rigorous analytical and problem-solving methodologies to resolve complex data integration and reporting challenges.
  • Independent Project Execution: Take proactive ownership of assigned tasks and data projects. Drive initiatives from initial requirements gathering through to final deployment without requiring continuous oversight.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Interface seamlessly with business leaders and technical stakeholders to translate high-level business requirements into precise technical specifications and compelling data visualizations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical Expertise: Strong expertise in SQL: Exceptional capability in data analysis, complex querying, and database performance tuning. Must be highly proficient in navigating large-scale relational database management systems.
  • BI & Reporting: Demonstrated experience and high proficiency in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade reports and dashboards using SSRS and Power BI.
  • Analytical Capabilities: Strong analytical acumen with the ability to dissect complex business problems, troubleshoot data discrepancies, and engineer robust data solutions.
  • Work Ethic & Autonomy: Self-Driven Initiative: Highly proactive approach to handling tasks, anticipating project needs, and mitigating potential roadblocks before they escalate. Operational Independence: Proven ability to manage time effectively, prioritize workloads, and deliver high-quality technical deliverables autonomously within a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Relevant Microsoft Certifications (e.g., Power BI Data Analyst Associate, SQL Server certifications).
  • Experience operating within a government contracting environment or working with strict data compliance and security standards.
