Our Solar business delivers industry leading, U.S.-made solar components. We manufacture hyper-pure polysilicon, high-quality solar wafers, and innovative photovoltaic modules, leveraging our leadership in advanced manufacturing to serve growing energy demand. You will be a part of advancing critical U.S. supply chains and delivering unmatched quality and reliability to customers.

Role Purpose

The role of a controls technician is to specify, procure, and complete projects to automate production processes, improve machine controls, and install machine data reporting. They are to support automation and controls in a manufacturing environment. Designs new electrical controls systems and improves existing electrical controls systems. Manage projects from design to implementation, including defining project scope, determining required resources, establishing equipment specifications, providing system startup services, developing processes, and executing validation protocols. Ensures compliance/improvement of quality systems in manufacturing. Participates in new product development and process improvement projects as a core team member or core team leader.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support other engineering technicians, establish, sets technical direction, and ensures compliance with plant standards.
  • The primary responsibility will be to support control systems throughout the plant.
  • Maintain functionality of controls through coordination with maintenance and operations.
  • Develop and maintain documentation on control systems throughout the departments.
  • Responsible for designing, developing, integrating, troubleshooting, and debugging.
  • Thoroughly follow structured Software Development practices to ensure fast and efficient systems completion.
  • Provide training for engineers and technicians as needed for new processes, equipment, or control systems.
  • Provide weekend and evening support as necessary to support 24/7 operations.
  • Project focus will be on receiving, developing and supporting new assets.
  • Ensure that the equipment meets plant/industry standards and utilizes leading edge technology and process capability to gain competitive advantage.
  • At times will also act in role of a controls technician to provide support to other manufacturing systems and equipment (material handling, process equipment, etc.).
Work Hours
  • Standard Hours (Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm)    
  • Flexible hours may be required to support weekends/evenings operations requirements (including coverage for shift supervisors on 12hr shift rotation as needed).     
Education & Experience
  • Associate's degree preferred in electrical technologies or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience with machine/motion controls systems in process and manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience integrating systems into advanced manufacturing processes.
Required Skills
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of various part sensing technologies.
  • Strong electro-mechanical skills with demonstrated experience in the successful implementation of automation and control system integration technologies in manufacturing processes.
  • Able to effectively work with external machine builders and system integrators for detail design, build and integration of later stages of machine system implementation.
  • Strong team player who takes personal ownership for their areas of responsibility.
  • Capable of executing project assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills, with focus on safety.

The range for this position is  $59,130.00 - $81,304.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
