Project Overview:

Bechtel’s focus on renewables and clean energy is helping our customers deliver transformational renewables and clean energy projects. Bechtel renewables team will perform project management, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and startup for the Sunfish 2 Project for a 360MW DC/309MW AC solar project in Calhoun County, Michigan.

Job Summary:

In this role,will report to the CSU Manager and is responsible for receiving and acting on requests to perform work on components or systems that are energized or have the potential to be energized. The TA will be responsible for energy isolation management in accordance with corporate and project specific procedures. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if required.

Acting as the primary on-site LOTO Tagging Authority for commissioning, this position works closely with engineering, construction, operations, vendors, equipment suppliers, commissioning teams, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to develop and execute comprehensive testing and validation programs. The role provides technical leadership throughout system turnover, integrated systems testing, regulatory inspections, and operational readiness activities to ensure all life safety systems are fully functional, code-compliant, documented, and ready for safe occupancy and operation.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Manage the integrated LOTO program on the Project coordinating between subcontractors, partners, and all other affected entities to deliver a safe and uniform program for the control of work and isolation of hazardous sources of energy.
  • Ensure the energy isolation program complies with SWPP's, STCP's, and Q4Safety. Use Q4Safety for electronic Energy Isolation Permits (EIP's).
  • Provide input and support to the Construction, Operations, and Commissioning teams, in piping, mechanical, and electrical isolations.
  • Identify isolation boundaries based on work scope and develop and issue EIP's.
  • Administer and manage the energy isolation program with strict enforcement and record keeping.
  • Perform other duties as directed in support of project activities.
  • Coordinate activities with other disciplines or areas and client representatives.
  • Maintain the training program and register on the project related to EIP's.
  • Procure material required to support the energy isolation management program.
  • Monitors the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with energy isolation.
  • Problem resolution and inspection of EIP's.
  • Monitor the installation of LOTO equipment such as Locks and Tags etc.
  • Work hours as required, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, as necessary to support the project.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Construction experience assigned to a construction site.
  • Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience.
  • Experience in Solar farm facilities > 200MW, power generating station construction or other oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing plants.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead team members effectively & positively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in high pressure situations.
  • Computer literate in word processing and spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Preferred: Experience on Solar Power projects construction site especially in the US.
  • Preferred: Understanding of applicable Bechtel processes including Standard Work Process Procedures.
  • Preferred: Advanced knowledge of Project Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including Setroute, Teamworks, E-Track, Unifier, Aconex, Q4, ArchGIS, and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects.

Additional Information:

  • Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat, extreme cold and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing high slopes,  working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces.
  • Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
  • Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
