Job description


The RF Test Engineer V is the senior technical leader for Test Engineering, providing direction for RF test strategy, execution, troubleshooting, documentation, and continuous improvement. This role leads test engineering activities for SSPA and other RF products as part of cross-functional integrated product teams, from early development through qualification and production. The position also plays a key role in expanding automated test capability using NI LabVIEW while helping strengthen the technical capability and consistency of the Test Engineering team.
Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership for the Test Engineering discipline; set priorities, establish good test practices, mentor engineers and technicians, and help grow team capability
  • Lead test engineering for SSPA and other RF product IPTs from development through qualification, environmental testing, production readiness, and sustaining support
  • Develop test plans and procedures that translate product requirements into practical verification and acceptance testing, including support for environmental qualification such as TVAC, vibration, and related testing
  • Design and set up RF test systems using VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, loads, attenuators, and related instrumentation
  • Execute and oversee RF testing, analyze results, document performance, and communicate conclusions and recommendations to engineering and program teams
  • Troubleshoot difficult RF hardware and test-system problems, working closely with design, systems, manufacturing, and quality engineers to identify root cause and corrective action.
  • Develop and improve automated test solutions using NI LabVIEW, including scripts, test sequencing, data collection, reporting, and reusable test architectures.
  • Drive improvements in test capability, repeatability, efficiency, equipment utilization, and readiness for future programs and production growth

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field of study
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in a specialized functional discipline
    • OR (14) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree
    • OR (8) years of experience may be considered w/ a Masters Degree
    • OR (5) years of experience may be considered w/ a PhD
  • Extensive hands-on experience developing and executing RF test for power amplifiers or other complex RF/microwave hardware
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical work, mentor others, and coordinate test activities across engineering and program teams
  • Experience developing or supporting automated test solutions using NI LabVIEW
  • Preferred direct experience testing SSPAs, high-power amplifiers, converters, receivers, or related RF assemblies
  • Preferred experience with space, aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability electronic products
