The Role
The Senior Business Development Manager focused on the Industrials business role at Convergix Automation is responsible for enabling account managers to hit sales targets by creating, sustaining, and cultivating business relationships and partnerships. The role requires frequent client interaction as well as internal communication with our sales team to develop solutions that meet the customer's needs and ultimately drive success as measured by our Net Promoters Score process.
The Senior Business Development Manager will lead prospecting efforts for custom Automation Solutions, with a primary focus on the Industrials sector serving as the cornerstone of the role. While Industrials will represent the heaviest concentration of activity, this position also carries meaningful engagement across a broad range of industries, including but not limited to Aerospace, Agriculture, Automotive, Consumer Products, Electric Vehicle, Energy, Furniture and Appliances, Logistics, Medical, Food Processing, Military, Recreational Vehicle and Transportation, and Oil and Gas. This position reports to the Senior VP Business Development and President Emeritus.
Key Responsibilities
  • Identify new business opportunities through market research, trade shows, networking, referrals and account managers.
  • Prospect potential clients in target industries or markets and document in the CRM.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified leads to ensure consistent sales activity.
  • Establish relationships with key decision-makers at target companies (e.g., C-level executives, managers, etc.).
  • Build rapport and maintain long-term relationships to encourage repeat business.
  • Understand clients' needs and challenges to tailor Convergix solutions effectively and build out a Win Strategy framework.
  • Frame business development strategies to achieve revenue targets and business growth goals.
  • Deliver sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
  • Gather initial G2 with respect for Negotiating terms of contracts.
  • Track and analyze sales data to optimize strategies and improve conversion rates.
  • Work with marketing and sales directors to ensure alignment between business development efforts and company offerings across business units
  • Provide feedback from clients to help refine our services and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to stay informed about market changes and opportunities.
  • Resolve objections and challenges to move prospects through the sales funnel.
  • Ensure a smooth transition from Business Development to account management to ensure client satisfaction and retention.
  • Track sales activities in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Generate regular reports on sales performance, pipeline status, and market trends for senior management.
  • Provide forecasts of expected sales booking potential based on "future" opportunities.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.
  • Network with potential clients, partners, and influencers to increase brand awareness and generate leads.
  • Act as a spokesperson and advocate for Convergix within the industry, promote Convergix, and represent the company's vision, culture, and values.
  • Attend industry events as needed and assist in the development of the Convergix go-to market plan.
  • Participate in or conduct weekly sales meetings to review pipeline and strategy.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential
  • College degree (Business or Engineering), or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years' experience in Automation equipment, Controls, Mechanical designs, and Robotics (Preferably sales and/or engineering)

  • Proven Successful history of selling solutions & equipment, meeting or exceeding KPI's.

  • Technical aptitude to adequately qualify opportunities and communicate within internal engineering teams.

  • Deep understanding of the automation market

  • Entrepreneurial Spirit with the mindset of customer success and a high degree of passion

  • Highly coachable and trustworthy

  • High integrity and commitment to delivering Convergix Automation's values to customers.
