Advantage Tech is searching for an IT Systems Engineer to join their client's team in Downtown Kansas City, Mo. with a diversified skillset with exposure in networking, infrastructure, planning, and operational experience to join our IT team supporting mission-critical systems in a largely on-premises virtualized environment.
Position Summary
We're looking for a Systems Generalist - someone who thrives in broad, varied technical environments and enjoys owning problems end?to?end. This role is ideal for engineers who "do a bit of everything" across servers, networking, identity, cloud, and endpoints. If you're adaptable, curious, and comfortable learning on the fly, you'll fit right in.
The ideal candidate will combine strong hands-on problem-solving skills with experience in server management, virtualization, and system reliability. This position plays a key role in ensuring the availability, security, and performance of the client's networked systems across multiple manufacturing sites.
Key Responsibilities
1. Core Systems & Infrastructure Operations
Systems Operations - Maintain and troubleshoot Windows/Linux servers, virtualization, storage appliances, and core services.
Identity & Access Management - Manage RBAC, directory services, MFA, SSO, and user lifecycle workflows.
Networking Fundamentals - Support DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing basics, VPNs, and firewall changes.
Cloud & SaaS Administration - Support and implement M365, SAML/OAUTH integrations, hybrid identity.
Monitoring & Reliability - Respond to alerts, improve observability, and ensure systems stay healthy.
2. Automation, Endpoint, and Operational Efficiency
Automation & Scripting - Use PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Endpoint Management - Handle device compliance, patching, imaging, and troubleshooting.
Operational Documentation - Maintain clear, concise documentation for systems, network diagrams, processes, and configurations.
Cross?functional Problem Solving - Own issues that span multiple domains without unnecessary hand?offs.
3. Vendor, Budget, and Lifecycle Support

Qualifications Required:
You don't need to be a senior engineer - but you should have solid fundamentals across several of these areas:
