Build something meaningful. Lead with influence. Help shape a growing global operation.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to build and scale a function, influence strategy, and see the direct impact of their work. You’ll have the autonomy to create structure, drive operational excellence, and contribute to the continued growth of a global engineering organization. Your expertise will help align local operations with global objectives and strengthen overall performance.

The Role

Our client, a global engineering and manufacturing company, is seeking a Procurement Manager to lead and further develop the Procurement and Logistics function in the United States. This is a hands-on leadership role with both strategic and operational responsibility.

In the early phase, you will focus on establishing and strengthening a professional procurement organization in the U.S., with support from experienced international colleagues. You will guide and develop the local purchasing team while implementing processes, tools, and performance standards aligned with global best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the U.S. Procurement & Logistics function, including Purchasing, Logistics, and Service Inventory

  • Partner closely with Production to ensure smooth material flow and on-time shipping

  • Oversee both operational and strategic purchasing to secure high-quality components at competitive cost and lead times

  • Develop and implement procurement processes, policies, KPIs, and performance metrics

  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with domestic and international suppliers; manage contracts and framework agreements

  • Apply Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) principles in supplier selection and negotiations

  • Manage supplier governance, including NDAs, supplier codes of conduct, framework agreements, and ongoing contract compliance

  • Monitor and improve supplier quality, inventory levels, delivery performance, and transportation costs

  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and optimize freight agreements

  • Collaborate with global procurement teams across Europe and the UK

  • Utilize and optimize ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics AX / D365), including master data management

  • Supervise, coach, and develop procurement team members

  • Support sustainability initiatives, cost-reduction programs, and make-vs-buy analyses

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field

  • 3+ years of experience as a Senior Buyer / Senior Purchaser in a manufacturing or engineered-products environment

  • Prior experience leading or supervising a small team

  • Strong technical understanding and experience with complex products

  • Hands-on background in logistics, shipping, and inventory management

  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics AX / Dynamics 365

  • Strong supplier negotiation and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience working within an international, matrixed organization

  • Willingness to travel up to 30 days per year

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $85,000 – $100,000

  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) with employer match
