Almost Anything, Big R's Got It!, and we want YOU to join the Big R Team as an Area Lead for our sporting goods department.
Love the adventure of the outdoors? We are looking for an individual who possesses a positive attitude, enjoys working with a team, is comfortable in computer operations, and provides top-quality customer service. Knowledge of firearms, hunting, fishing, and wildlife regulations is preferred.
The Area Lead for Sporting Goods is also responsible for supervision of department employees including creating and distributing daily assignments, training new employees, and cross training employees from other departments.
*Must be able to work weekends with a rotating schedule.
Requirements
*This position requires the applicant to be at least 21 years of age to adhere to Background Check requirements.
Requirements:
  • General knowledge of all department's product is desired - Departments include: Cashier, Sporting Goods, Tack and Pet, Hardware, Automotive, Clothing, Boots, & Accessories, Yard, Receiving
  • Provide Friendly & Helpful Customer Service at all times. Possess a Positive Attitude and Professionalism
  • All Associates are expected to conform to the scheduled work hours and shifts set by Store Management. Must be capable of working on their feet for long periods of time, and capable of standing, walking, bending and/or kneeling, consistently throughout the workday.
  • All associates should be capable of pushing, pulling and/or lifting up to 30 pounds without assistance consistently and sometimes 50 pounds throughout the workday.

Additional Responsibilities (not all inclusive):
  • General cleaning and upkeep of all areas of the store.
  • Answer phones, 2-way radio calls, make announcements over PA system, with clear, pleasant, and professional methods of communication.
  • Computer & Point of Sale system knowledge -- including transaction processing, product lookup, inventory verification and availability.
  • General knowledge of Department products is desired - including ATF/FFL, firearms, ammunition, sporting licenses, outdoor recreation.
