Job Summary

Working under minimal supervision of the IT PMO Director, referring only exceptional problems and issues for management review or approval, the Technical Project Manager leads mid to large sized projects, managing all aspects of the project including: planning and initiation, assignment of tasks, scheduling of meetings, progress tracking, issues management, status reporting, budgeting oversight and driving results. The Technical Project Manager collaborates with internal business and system teams, stakeholders, and clients to ensure the successful delivery of assigned projects ranging in size and scope. The Technical Project Manager produces project management reports and assists the PMO with preparing status and executive communications.

Responsibilities Primary Job Duties:
  • Leads mid to large sized projects, managing from inception through delivery and ensuring objectives are accomplished on time and within budget thru development of project plans, providing technical oversight, and monitoring/tracking progress using PMO tools and processes.
  • As assigned, manages workstreams as a subset of a larger project.
  • Schedules and facilitates meetings by leading the discussion, capturing action items and deliverables. Assigns and tracks deliverables to completion, tracking them against due dates across the SDLC phases.
  • Identifies and communicates resource needs.
  • Coordinates activities with project members cross functionally.
  • Presents project status to project stakeholders, including executive management.
  • Proactively communicates issues and proposed solutions to management. 
  • Produces project management reports and adheres to Program Management Office ("PMO") policies and procedures
  • Maintains notes and project details in SharePoint
  • Keeps all project information up-to-date and current in the project repository.
  • Maintains all project documentation for auditor requests.
  • Assists with keeping PMO policies and procedures up-to-date and adapts to changes in policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Competencies:

Technical Project Management

  • Strong technical project management skills, including organizing, planning, and executing, from vision through implementation, large-scale projects involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors
  • Strong organization skills with ability to document activities, anticipate problems, plan schedules and monitor performance according to priorities and deadlines while delivering high-quality outcomes
  • Broad experience managing projects across multiple information technology disciplines and platforms including:
  • B2B Web eCommerce, ERP, and CRM applications for a transactional sales and order fulfillment business
  • Internally developed, SaaS, and 3rd party integrations
  • Data center, networking, and cloud infrastructure, including on premise, native and hybrid cloud solutions
  • Globally distributed, cross-functional teams across multiple time zones and cultures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Team Foundation Server, Atlassian Jira, or similar project tracking software
  • Proficiency with MS Office Products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint, Teams or similar applications
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Experience with customer business requirements gathering with ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives
  • Strong change management skills and ability to influence decision makers
