Arcadis is seeking a Project Accountant to join our team in Boston, MA. You will be joining a talented team of professionals that focus on delivering outstanding client service, helping them program, plan, and deliver their capital projects. Role description:
The position will deal with facility Infrastructure and Capital Improvements, Construction Modernization, Expansion and Renovations, Equipment and System Replacement, and other high value facility maintenance and repair projects. The work schedule for this position fluctuates based upon the needs of projects or events, which will require the ability to work on a flexible schedule, that may include early morning, night or on occasion weekend activities. Travel to local facilities may be required.
Role accountabilities:
• Ability to oversee several projects at the same time.
• Manage and oversee accounting activities for construction projects, including job costing, budgeting, and financial reporting
• Manage invoices, payments, and compliance for assigned projects.
• Process vendor/general contractor and subcontractor invoices/ pay applications accurately and within assigned timeline.
• Manages both internal and external risks within the project's lifetime.
• Manage change orders and ensure timely completion of project deliverables
• implement project control processes and procedures
• Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and identify potential cost overruns or savings opportunities
• Monitors contractor progress against baseline schedule.
• Reviews of contractor change order requests.
• Collaborate with project managers, finance, and procurement teams to ensure accurate allocation of costs and revenue recognition
• Maintain compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements for construction projects
• Support audits by providing project documentation, financial records, and detailed cost analyses
• Implement and maintain accounting controls, processes, and best practices specific to construction accounting
• Stay updated on construction accounting regulations, industry trends, and software tools to optimize project financial management
Minimum Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required
• Experience: 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based environments
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g.PM Webb) and Microsoft Excel
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights
• Attention to Detail: Accuracy in maintaining project financial records and preparing reports
• Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with project teams, management and the client
• Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve financial discrepancies, budget variances, and accounting issues efficiently
• Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and complex accounting data
