Wood is currently recruiting for a Project Manager to join our Minerals & Metals office in Trail, BC.   This position is hybrid, with a minimum of three days per week in office.

This role has overall responsibility for overseeing the development of budgets, schedules and reports as well as for the management and coordination of project staff and sub-contractors to ensure safe, cost effective, efficient and timely completion of projects in order to meet and/or exceed client expectations. Our Trail office currently numbers over 50 engineers, designers and support personnel. Trail, located in Southeastern British Columbia near the cities of Rossland, Nelson and Castlegar, is an affordable family-oriented community of approximately 10,000 people. Expected: 

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Engineering from a recognized university
  • Minimum of 8 years engineering or operations experience focusing on heavy industrial projects including at least 2 years in a project management role
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work with people at all levels
  • Effective organizational skills and be able to multi-task
  • Strong track record of successful project completion
  • Completion of a diploma or degree in a certified project management program is considered an asset
  • A willingness to travel for varying durations and at times to remote locations

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the management and coordination of project staff and sub-contractors to ensure safe, cost effective, efficient and timely completion of projects in order to meet and/or exceed client expectations
  • Act as a technical professional resource for the successful competition of multiple major challenging projects
  • Develop and maintain communication channels with clients, stake holders, and internal personnel to ensure that work flows smoothly as well as providing first class engineering services
  • Oversee the development of project budgets, schedules and reports
  • Monitor engineering, procurement and/or construction progress
  • Chair project meetings and ensure that schedules are progressing
  • Review cost control forecasts (engineering costs as well as capital costs)
  • Gather up to date information first hand at sites, meeting with clients and constantly monitor work performances
