INTRODUCTION:

 The Recreation Center Manager is responsible for supervising staff, overseeing daily facility operations, developing and coordinating programs, fostering community engagement, and ensuring the delivery of safe, inclusive, and high-quality recreational services for the Siletz Tribal Community. The Recreation Center manager plans and administers a wide range of sports, recreation, health, fitness and cultural programs designed to meet the diverse needs of the Siletz community. 


DUTIES:

  • Develop and implement the Tribal Recreation Center's mission, vision, and strategic goals. Providing overall leadership, directions and daily operational oversight, ensuring a safe, clean, welcoming and well-maintained facility for community use.
  • Prepare and present reports, performance metrics, and updates for Education Director, CEO and Tribal Council to support informed decision making and program accountability. 
  • Supervise train, schedule and evaluate recreation staff. Ensuring effective performance and adherence to policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Coordinate recreation programming and partnership with county leagues, schools and Tribal programs to expand opportunities for participants.
  • Develop and oversee revenue generating strategies for recreation programs, facility rentals, membership and partnerships, including evaluation and implementation of appropriate fee structures to support operational sustainability.
  • Develop and manage program and facility budgets, track expenditures, and support long term planning for facility needs and improvements.
  • Identify and pursue grants, sponsorships, and fundraising opportunities to support and enhance recreation programs and services.
  • Monitor assigned programs, evaluate service delivery, and implement adjustments to improve effectiveness and community impact   
  • Assess the impact of new and existing programs and develop or refine procedures as needed.
  • Lead marketing and outreach efforts to increase program participation, and community engagement 
  • Foster community engagement by developing inclusive recreational opportunities that reflect the needs and interests of Tribal members and surrounding community members, while representing the Recreation Center at public meetings and community events.


Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration, Sports Exercise, Sports Management, Public Health or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in recreation, athletics, sports programming, community services, or facility operations, including at least two (2) years of supervisory experience required -OR- an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.  


Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of risk management and safety regulations
  • Knowledge of year-round recreation center programming and activities, include rules and regulations. This includes community athletics, recreation and fitness activities across age groups - such as basketball, volleyball, pickleball, etc. 
  • Youth Services; After-school and non-school day programming, best practice standards, policies and state & federal laws.
  • Rules and regulations for a wide range of sports and other activities, including OSAA
  • Health and wellness engagement strategies for all age groups (youth, adults and elders). 
  • Operating programs and the inter-relationships among such programs.
  • Tribal culture and the importance of culturally relevant programs.

  • Experience organizing large events and leading large athletic tournaments, camps, and classes.

  • Procurement of recreation center equipment and supplies. 
  • Grant writing experience preferred.
