Summary
Delta Star Inc. is seeking a talented and innovative Sr. Control Design Engineer to design and engineer control systems for medium voltage, mobile power transformers and mobile substations. What You'll Do
As a Sr. Control Design Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in designing, drafting, and executing control systems for our world-class products. From interpreting customer specifications to supporting cross-functional teams, you'll ensure our solutions meet the highest standards in quality, performance, and innovation.
A Day in the Life
As a Sr. Control Design Engineer, you'll design and draft control systems that meet customer specifications, industry standards, and company goals, focusing on cost and quality optimization. You'll collaborate with Quality, Production, and Field Service teams to ensure smooth production processes, address on-site challenges, and deliver high-quality results. Your role will include driving continuous improvement by identifying and implementing initiatives that enhance team performance. Additionally, you'll engage in cross-functional activities, such as customer meetings, project reviews, and team discussions, contributing to the success of each project.
Specific Duties
  • Interpret project documentation, including purchase orders, customer specifications, and bid proposals, to execute designs effectively.
  • Prepare schematic, wiring, and cabinet layout drawings for customer approval or production.
  • Select transformer instruments and gauges based on design and customer requirements while adhering to standard parts lists.
  • Prepare BOMs, review and approve vendor quotes, and manage ERP system updates for material requisitions.
  • Respond to technical inquiries from internal and external customers and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Inspect manufactured cabinets for quality assurance and support final assembly or field service teams during operational start-ups.
  • Research and analyze new products and market trends, incorporating them into innovative designs.

What We're Looking For
We're seeking an innovative and detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 8 years of combined experience in power transformer controls and design, with at least 7 years specifically in transformer control design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Vanilla (required); experience with AutoCAD Electrical is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of NEMA, IEEE, CSA, and IEC standards for control panel design.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Hands-on experience with gauges, electronic devices for transformer condition monitoring, and various transformer LTC schemes from ABB and MR.

Must live or be willing to relocate to within a reasonable safe commute to the assigned plant location. Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer for U.S. based positions.
