Summary
Delta Star Inc. is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Tester to support quality testing operations for our power and mobile transformers. If you have a foundation in electrical theory, hands-on troubleshooting skills, and a strong commitment to quality, this could be the next step in your career.
What You'll Do
As a Tester, you'll play a hands-on role in performing control circuit and transformer testing procedures to ensure product performance and compliance with specifications. You'll work with engineering documentation and testing instruments, contributing to the overall quality and reliability of our equipment.
A Day in the Life
In this role, you'll follow detailed test procedures, wiring schematics, and technical drawings to conduct functional and performance testing. You'll document quality control results, assist senior technicians with advanced testing, and help ensure that every transformer leaving the facility meets Delta Star's standards. You'll also participate in inspection activities and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Specific Duties
  • Recognize and complete all required Quality Control documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform control functional tests on basic transformer control circuitry.
  • Conduct standard transformer tests including:
    • Turns ratio
    • Insulation resistance (megger)
    • Power factor (bushing and overall)
    • Dissipation factor
    • Phase relationship
    • CT ratio and polarity
    • 10kV excitation
    • Oil hipot
  • Assist with advanced testing procedures under the supervision of senior technicians, including:
    • Induced voltage with RIV/Partial Discharge
    • Impulse and heat run testing
    • Load and no-load losses
    • Sound level testing
    • Preventative auto testing
  • Use transformer diagnostic instruments and measurement systems with attention to calibration and accuracy.
  • Perform product inspections and report any non-conformances, material defects, or unusual conditions to the supervisor.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team training.

Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or coursework in electrical theory preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documents.

  • Experience using electrical measurement and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow complex procedures.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
