Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Investment Performance System and Compliance Solutions, this position is responsible for leading the operation of HOOPP's P&L system (Ortec Pearl), associated data flows and warehousing, and solutioning for automated and ad-hoc investment reporting.

This role will require a detailed understanding of HOOPP's investment products & strategies, trade flow and data lifecycle processes as well as underlying systems, data structures and IT architecture. The ability to configure and reconcile production systems, navigate data warehouses, and code reporting / automations will be critical.

While the focus of this role is on the Performance System and associated processes, it will also have broader responsibilities related to the larger Investment Reporting & Analytics group. The individual will have considerable interaction with various departments within HOOPP's IT, Front, Middle, and Back Offices and will be assisting on cross-functional projects and solutioning (investment reporting, automations, data analysis, modeling, validation, and QA).

What you will do:

  • Steward Investment Performance data lifecycle and warehousing. Ensure data integrity and processes are optimized for official release to organization through Enterprise Data Platform.

  • Lead the configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of P&L system across multiple environments. Recommend and implement optimizations and solutions. Verify system logic and work directly with vendor.

  • Lead analysis, integrations, and testing of new products / functionality as part of cross functional teams e.g. operational readiness for new investments / strategies, testing and validation of upstream and downstream changes.

  • Build and maintain cross-functional reports and automation solutions using a range of reporting tools and technologies like Qlik, Python, Snowflake, Excel, Power BI, SAP Hana.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Portfolio and Deal Structures within HOOPP including all the securities that make up those strategies

  • Contribute to the decisions related to HOOPP's Data Architecture as it relates to - Investment Reporting, Data Governance & Valuations

  • Analyze, monitor and confirm the methodologies and the accuracy of the calculations impacting reports developed and/or supported by the team

  • Design and implement automated solutions used for data quality monitoring, evaluation, and exception-based handling, and otherwise manage risk associated with data quality and governance

  • Coordinate with other teams the completion of various projects, capture and document requirements, communicate them effectively and precisely to implementation teams (IT, IDM), advise on preferred solutions, and ultimately validate and accept related deliverables. Communicate effectively and work closely with internal clients to make sure their requirements are met, and delivered solutions validated and accepted

  • Lead and mentor Analysts/Senior Analysts within the Performance Systems team

  • As a self-starter, continuously looking for outside-of-the-box process improvements and new, value-add initiatives for the Business Intelligence, Performance Systems and Analytics group

  • Interface various internal systems, to analyze data transformation and flows within said systems. Analyze the use of data and make recommendations to improve data flow and data transformation.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to help deliver robust, well-designed automated solutions while mitigating implementation risks.

  • Learn and keep current in the understanding of the key processes supported by or having an impact on the team.

What you bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in technical or related fields (e.g. Finance, IT, Mathematics, Information Systems). Post graduate degree would be an asset.

  • 7+ years in a business-focused technical role within the Investment industry with working knowledge of diverse asset classes (Fixed Income, Equities, Derivatives and Alternatives)

  • 5+ years configuring and maintaining middle office systems, including expert proficiency with SQL, spreadsheets, and database applications (e.g. Snowflake, Oracle, SAP Hana).

  • 5+ years leading projects. Working knowledge of SaaS concepts, SDLC, and DevOps processes. Proven ability to perform requirement analysis, author documentation, communicate with stakeholders, and drive UAT execution and implementation

  • Working knowledge of Python and/or some other general-purpose programming language would be an asset

  • Experience developing reports using a range of Business Intelligence Tools (e.g. Qlik, Power BI) including the design, development, and maintenance of any underlying data models.

  • Keen eye for detail and accuracy

  • Professional designations would be an asset e.g. CFA, FRM, CPA

  • Ability to think conceptually, creatively, always looking for new ways of doing work. Lead initiatives to develop and implement improvements.
