Company Overview

At Terabase Energy, we believe digitalization and automation will help reduce the cost and improve the scalability of large-scale solar. Terabase is developing an interconnected software and construction automation platform to support the design, optimization, and construction of utility-scale solar projects worldwide.

Our team includes solar industry veterans and newcomers — software, electrical, and mechanical engineers; product and project managers; and sales and marketing professionals — working together from Northern California and other locations around the world.

Position Summary

Terabase is hiring an Engineering Manager to establish and lead a Test & Validation function within a hardware engineering program. You will build and manage the team responsible for proving that the product works, lasts, and complies with relevant standards— owning the validation strategy, the certification pathway, the field operations function, and the integration interface with partners

Location & Travel

• Onsite in Davis/Woodland, CA (Sacramento area).

• Up to ~25% travel to project test sites and partner sites, depending on validation activities.

Responsibilities

• Build, hire, develop, and manage a team of engineers and technicians covering test, validation, field operations, compliance, and technical documentation

• Own the field validation strategy for prototype and early stage hardware iterations

• Define and execute test plans, acceptance criteria, and validation protocols

• Own the product certification pathway through accredited test lab partners

• Partner with the mechanical engineering team on test article preparation, design-for-test, and field deployment readiness

• Contribute to executive reporting on validation progress, certification status, and field test outcomes

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years engineering experience, with 3+ years in a people management role

• Demonstrated experience leading test and validation programs for outdoor mechanical or electromechanical hardware

• Working knowledge of standards relevant to outdoor utility-scale hardware, especially governing safety standards (UL, IEC, ASCE, ISO, etc.)

• BS or MS in mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of state-of-the-art utility scale solar construction

• Direct experience engaging accredited test laboratories (UL, Intertek, TÜV, CSA, or equivalent)

• Experience authoring ICDs and managing third-party integration partners

• Professional Engineer (PE) license

Benefits

Compensation & Benefits

This role offers a base salary of $150,000–$175,000 (DOE). Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each posted range, individual pay is determined based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Terabase offers a competitive benefits package, including:

• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
