Job description

Position Title: Warehouse Operations Manager
Job Summary:
The Warehouse Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and distribution. This role involves leading and mentoring warehouse staff, implementing efficient processes, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards. The manager will work collaboratively with other departments and external partners to achieve operational excellence and meet business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Warehouse Management:
    • Oversee daily warehouse operations, including kitting, order picking/packing, material handling, storage, and outbound shipments.
    • Manage inventory levels, conduct regular inventory checks
    • Optimize warehouse layout and storage configurations to maximize space utilization and streamline workflows.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment through regular inspections and audits.
    • Ensure sections in the warehouse are clearly and appropriately marked.
    • Assist management with building vendors for day-to-day operations
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Train, mentor, and lead all warehouse team members, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
    • Supervise warehouse staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Maintain the ability to perform all warehouse positions and willingness to fill in when needed.
  • Process Improvement & Efficiency:
    • Develop and implement warehouse policies and procedures to promote accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
    • Continuously evaluate warehouse processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure all warehouse team members follow company safety measures and communicate equipment training and safety needs to the safety team.
    • Manage established safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
    • Address any safety hazards or compliance issues promptly.
  • Collaboration & Reporting:
    • Work with procurement and production teams to ensure adequate stock levels and minimize stockouts.
    • Coordinate with logistics partners for timely and cost-effective transportation of goods.
    • Collaborate with other departments (production, quality control, customer service) to meet company goals and address warehouse-related issues.
    • Foster relationships with operations personnel to achieve warehouse objectives.
    • Complete all required management reports and utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory, monitor performance, and generate reports.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • 3+ years of experience in e-commerce, distribution, manufacturing, or other relevant supply chain field management
  • Strong aptitude to think critically, solve problems, and drive improvements in a professional and respectful manner
  • Demonstrated functional knowledge and expertise in distribution, including Warehousing operations (including Six Sigma and Lean), engineering standards, warehouse equipment, and performance metrics,
  • Working knowledge of inbound logistics, warehousing, IT systems, and outbound logistics in the distribution industry
  • Demonstrated experience and success with process improvement and efficiency, including establishing and managing KPIs
  • Working knowledge of innovations in supply chain and warehousing
  • Knowledge of and ability to ensure compliance with general safety standards, quality specifications, and governmental requirements
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to value both relationships and results and to put others above themselves
  • Strong ability to negotiate and resolve conflict by navigating confrontational situations to ensure all parties are treated with honor, dignity, and respect
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Google product suites; experience with ERP, WMS, and TMS solutions
