Job description

Job Summary:
Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems for the benefit of Earth. They are seeking an experienced Senior Software Development Manager to lead their Material Movement and Receiving Technology team, managing skilled software developers and executing a supply-chain technology roadmap.
Responsibilities:
• Leading, mentoring, and growing a team of software engineers, while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
• Regularly presenting strategic initiatives to VPs and other executives.
• Collaborating extensively with Senior and Principal engineers to identify optimal technical architectures.
• Driving their team’s operational excellence and delivering industry-leading, high-quality technical solutions.
• Overseeing the design, implementation and launch of manufacturing, scheduling, planning and execution software.
• Owning critical workstreams on complex, years-long projects.
• Optimizing software development processes to enhance productivity and quality.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Proven track record of successfully leading software development projects from inception to delivery.
• Experience applying AI to solve business problems and facilitate software development.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and development methodologies.
• Experience in distributed backend systems and cloud-based environments, such as AWS.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for solving complex technical challenges.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A passion for space exploration and a commitment to Blue Origin’s mission.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
Preferred:
• Experience with manufacturing, especially supply chain.
• Experience in the aerospace or defense industry.
