Job description

Duties As an EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (TITLE 32), GS-0089-9, you will execute the Emergency Management (EM), Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear (CBRN), and Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) emergency response, logistics, and training programs. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: * Assist with analyzing course content to tailor training programs to meet local requirements. * Review exercise reports to identify training shortfalls and conduct remedial training where required. * Assist in performing staff assistance visits utilizing checklists and criteria to determine compliance with program specific directives and procedures. * Serve as emergency management liaison with outside agencies at the local, county, and tribal level during emergencies. * Recommend courses of action regarding Readiness and Emergency Management within an organization. * Evaluate Emergency Management programs to ensure compliance with established guidance and regulations. * Development of adequate disaster preparedness measures to minimize the effects of natural disasters and/or major accidents and incidents. * Perform hazard and risk assessment and conducts incident analysis. * Take actions to program, procure, inspect, and maintain equipment and aids, to include enhancements and upgrades and identifies shortfalls to the supervisor. * Determine best course of action from many alternatives and recommend and support this action to leadership. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : GS-09 Level - MUST possess specialized experience, which includes 12 months experience at the lower-level GS-07 or equivalent, or training in Developing, managing, and executing the EM programs, ensuring all military, civilian and contract personnel are trained and equipped to support home station and worldwide contingency operations. emergency Management programs and work include areas such as preparedness and response, training and exercises, activation and mobilization of resources, ongoing emergency and command operations, response and recovery operations, continuity planning and operations, uninterrupted execution of mission-essential functions, communications, logistics, hazard risk assessment, hazard effects, hazard classification, and collaborating with stakeholders and partners; emergency Management work also includes occupant emergency planning, crisis management, continuity of operations and government, mission assurance, and resiliency activities. . Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
